PRINCETON — Betty L. Walker, 74, of Walker Avenue, Princeton, departed this life peacefully Friday afternoon, June 8, 2012, at her home with her family by her side. Born July 24, 1937, at Oakvale, she was the daughter of the late Emmett Clemons and Ethel Jones Clemons.

While her health permitted, Betty was an active member with Burke Memorial Baptist Church in Princeton where she served as treasurer for many years, she also taught Sunday school, served on the visitation committee and a member of the ladies missionary society. Betty was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed raising her flowers, was a wonderful cook and seamstress and loved serving her Lord.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Robert "Bob" Walker; two children, Betty Ann Rufus and husband, Toney of Richmond, Va., Robert Michael Walker and wife, Angie of Princeton; three grandchildren, Michael Jeremy Walker, Anthony Alan Rufus and Cheyanne Hope Walker; one great-grandchild, Kennady Jade; six siblings, Clarence Clemons, Griffin Clemons and wife, Linda, Roger Clemons, Mary Walker, all of Princeton, Willie Clemons and Randy Clemons; a host of nieces and nephews; and her extended family with Hospice Compassus who's care for her will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2012, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ronnie Thomure officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton.

A time of sharing and gathering will be held Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The honor of serving the Walker family has been given to the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
