Margaret Veronica Perkins was born the first child of Margaret Elizabeth (McDonald) Perkins and Robert C. Perkins on February 13, 1908 in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Her father was a traveling salesman who had an alias of "Robert Cotrell Young". The family moved to St. Louis, MO soon after Margaret's birth where she was joined in the family by brother John Alfred in 1909. Not ones to stay anyplace too long apparently, the Perkins Family relocated the next year to Chicago where Margaret's little brother Warren Francis was born in early 1911. Trouble was to follow as her father abandoned the family and joined the U.S. Navy. Margaret never knew the reason for her father's alias. Her mother never remarried.

In 1928 at the age of twenty, Margaret married Arthur Wood of Saskatchewan, Canada. The marriage produced two children, Donald (1929) and Robert (1932).
The marriage was a rocky one and fell a part by 1936. Afterward, Margaret fell in love with Arthur's younger brother Reuben. The feelings were mutual and the couple wed on April 15, 1939 in Chicago. Reuben and Margaret had one child, Kathleen Ann on April 23, 1941 as war was raging in Europe. Her father Reuben helped in the war effort working in the Ford plant building vehicles desperately needed by the Allied Forces. Meanwhile Margaret was enjoying her years of motherhood.

As time went on the couple prospered as Reuben continued at the Ford Plant and they were happy as mid century approached. Her oldest son, Donald, was married in 1949 and all was going well until his premature death in a car accident two days after the birth of her second child in 1953.

Eventually Margaret would have eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren. In the mid 1970s, Margaret and her husband relocated to Cape Coral, FL to be near their youngest grandchildren by way of her youngest child, Kathy. Margaret was an excellent grandma and great grandma, loved universally in the family as the wise, loving matriarch counter to her daughter. Sadly, she suffered a stroke on the evening of Christmas Day 1994 at Kathleen's house. She would not be able to recover and passed away on January 17,1995. Margaret Veronica Wood was 86 y.o.a..
