Obituary: King E. Beal, 77, of 1216 Independence Ave., died unexpectedly at 7:30 a.m. Thursday in Allen Memorial Hospital of a gastro-intestinal hemorrhage. Mr. Beal was a pioneer in radio entertainment in Waterloo beginning with WMT when it was located In the building at E. 3rd and Lafayette Streets as a Waterloo station. He was born Jan. 6, 1386, at Fort Dodge, the son of Jessie and Minnie Beal. He married Alpha Cobb on Aug. 22, 1922, in Chicago. Mr. Beal was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad from 1912 until his retirement in 1949 and was engaged in radio work also during much of this period. He was the organizer of the Cover Collectors' Stamp Club. Survived by his widow at home; one son, Basil Beal of Dubuque and one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Trenuth of Missoula, Mont.; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Buck of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Georgia Hoots of Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. Grace Ganierd of San Francisco, Calif.; two grandchildren. Friends may call at Parrott and Wood Funeral Home after 5 p. m. Friday. Services are tentatively scheduled for Monday.
