On December 26, 1952 she married Maurice Lee Nelson in Maryville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2003. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Carrollton Immanuel Lutheran Church. She had been employed with J. C. Penney, was a Magistrate Court clerk in Carroll County, was later owner of the Mode O'Day in Carrollton. She was a secretary at the Carrollton Police Station and worked at Main Drug. Barbara is survived by three children, Michael Lee Nelson and wife Susan, Wathena, Kansas, Janice Lynn Marxhausen and husband Karl, Carrollton, Missouri, Mary Denise Anderson and husband Greg, Carrollton, Missouri, two sisters, Carolyn Sears and husband Richard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Virginia Oxley, Lee's Summit, Missouri, five grandchildren, Amos Nelson and wife Jessie, Newport News, Virginia, Seth and Mary Beth Nelson, Wathena, Kansas, Lauren and Sean Anderson, Carrollton, Missouri. Her parents also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Eric Swyres officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to Lutherans For Life in memory of Mrs. Nelson.
