Robert W. was the son of Martin Peter LeRoy and Margaret O'Dell. He was born Martin P. Jr. changing his name to Robert. Robert was raised by his mother and step-father James Anderson. He was a graduate of Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, in 1928. While in school, Robert was outstanding in dramatics and swimming. When he graduated he worked for City Retail Lumber. He left Aberdeen and moved to Seattle where he worked with Rayonier Incorporation. From there he moved to New York where he became an executive vice president. He later became head of the Piper Corporation of America and operated a paper mill in Cheboygan, Michigan. It was a sad evening when Robert discovered his wife was having an affair, in a rage of anger he killed his wife and then himself. He was married to Wayne E. Faulkner and had a son Robert, 13 yrs old, Sharri, 8 yrs old and Roger, was was 6. The family brought back the children to Aberdeen.
