Leonard Boelter, 81, of Valley City, died in a Valley City hospital Saturday afternoon, January 26, 1985.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Charles Plaster officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in the spring.
Leonard Gottfried Otto Walter Boelter was born January 17, 1904 in the Griswold community, south of Litchville, the son of William and Anna Boelter. He was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Griswold and received his education in a rural school.
June 7, 1933 he married Alpha Eidahl at Valley City. They farmed until 1940, when he became the Standard Oil Bulk agent in Marion. In 1966, he retired and the couple moved into Valley City. He was a member of Our Savior’s Church.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, David of Auroa, Colorado; and Richard of Denver, Colorado; three daughters, Sharon Hancock of Auburn, California; Jean McCusker of Denver, Colorado; and Jane Young of Berthoud, Colorado; three brothers, Art of Cape Coral, Florida; Bill of Litchville and Paul of Rochester, Michigan; four sisters, Effie Rue of Grand Forks; Mable Burkhardt of Newport, California; Lydia Wallace of New London, Texas; and Scilla Velure of Valley City; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
