Kitty came to IL with her family, her parents, and most of her brothers and sisters and their families, on a flatboat down the Ohio River in 1852. They landed in Shawneetown and purchased the land in Sparks Hill before ever seeing it. She endured many hardships as a pioneer, the worst being the losses of 9 of her 13 children.
Kitty is survived by her husband, 3 daughters, Hannah Jane Davis, Martha Taylor Tinsley, and Sarah M. Stone, and 1 son; John W. Coghill; sisters Martha Love and Margaret Miles, and brothers Thomas and Robert Nathaniel Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 children, sisters Elizabeth "Jane" Brownfield, Ellen Alcorn, Nancy Alcorn, Harriett Burton, and Sarah Sparks and a brother Mark McPherson.
