LaVerne Ardelle Swanson, 91, of Florida, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 in the home of her daughter Lynn in Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late James B. Swanson, who died April 3, 1986.
Born in Biwabik, MN, she was the daughter of the late Arvid and Anna A. (Niemi) Frants. LaVerne was the former Head Administrator of the Physical Therapy Wing of the University of Minnesota Hospital and later Administrator for Minnesota State Senator John Chenoweth. She enjoyed shopping, reading, playing bridge, camping, traveling and swimming.
Survivors: her daughters, Lynn S. Kohler and her husband, Robert of Bethlehem with whom she resided, Lise Ann Anderson and her husband, Daryl of Maplewood, MN; son, James B. Swanson, Jr. and his companion LuAnn Fry of Hugo, MN; a brother, Byron Frants of Tucson, AZ; a sister, Glenna Fleck of Falls Church, VA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Steven Kohler (Karlene) of Allentown, David Kohler (Jessica) of Macungie, Daniel Kohler (Caitlin) of Bethlehem, Erik Anderson (Sarah), Tallis Anderson (Brandi), Logan Anderson (Jackie), Amy Downey, Julie Lujan (David), all of the Twin Cities, MN, and eleven great grandchildren: Ethan, Ryleigh, Raegan, Makenzie, Nick, Travis, Brianna, Lizzie, Ashlyn, Sydney, and Olivia. Brothers, Carl and Don Frants and sister, Faye Ann Craig died earlier.
Services: Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem where friends may call from 1:00 PM until time of services. Burial will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota.
