Recompense Cary, son of Zebulon, b. Bridgewater, Jan. 25, 1757; went to Ward, Mass., now Auburn; he was a mechanic, a soldier of the Revolution, engaged in mercantile pursuits, represented his town in the Legislature, and was an official member of the Congregational Church. While on a visit to a dau. in Erie Co., N. Y., he d. Dec. 13, 1836, leaving the legacy of a good name to his children. He m. Anna Drury, 1789.
Children:
I. Zebulon, b. July 26, 1790; m. Martha Baird, and had no children; was a prominent, honored, and useful man; his widow went to Macon, Ga.
II. Leonard, b. April 2, 1793.
III. Clarissa, b. Sept. 19, 1797; m. Rev. Isaac Oakes; lived in Livingston Co., New York.
IV. Eliza, b. July 17, 1802; m. Rev. Mr. Cannon, of Geneva, N. Y., who was District Secretary of the American Board for 28 years; had two daughters, both of whom married.
