Marie Josephine Kladzyk, 93, left this world in the same way she lived her life, peacefully, and embraced by the love of her family. Wife, mother, and "Gramma" "Busia," friend, faithful Catholic, and community booster, Marie died on June 22nd in her home. She was born on March 18th, 1921 in Detroit, daughter of Thomas and Sophia (Sosnowska) Ziemba. Marie married Franklin James "Frank" Kladzyk on June 27th, 1946, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, Detroit.
Marie was baptized and attended grade school at St. Hyacinth Parish. She then attended the Felician Academy in Detroit, and graduated from the Detroit Business Institute. They were married following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps, and returned to Bad Axe in order to run the East End Hotel. In 1960 they began to design the Franklin Inn in Bad Axe, which opened in 1961. Following transfer of ownership of the Inn in 1970 to the Frank Lerash Family, Marie became part of the team at Huron County Community Mental Health as Office Manager, until her retirement.
A woman who believed in community service, Marie was President of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, President of the Women's Division of The Verona Hills Golf Club, and an Honorary Alumna and Ambassador of Orchard Lake Schools.
