Madison Blount died at his home in Jones County, Georgia on November 5, 1926 at the age of 92 years, 7 months, 22 days. He died within six miles of the place where he was born on March 14, 1834. His mother, Dinah, was an Igbo (Ebo) slave. His master, David E. Blount, who was also his father, had him trained as a carpenter very early in life.

Married Queen V in 1862 and they had four boys and seven girls.

In 1863, at the age of 29, he was freed from slavery by the proclamation of Abraham Lincoln.
