Bob" Moore Walker, age: 74, formerly of Asheville, died Sunday, January 29, 2006 after a brief illness. Bob, as known by all his friends, was the son of the late Harry and Eva Moore Walker. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, James and David and a sister, Marguerite Cogburn. He resided most of his life in Raleigh where he retired from the Department of Transportation as a Project Design Engineer. He was responsible for the design of numerous roads throughout the state and several In Western North Carolina. After his retirement, he continued to work in the design field for Consulting Engineering groups in the Raleigh area for ten years. Mr. Walker was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served three years in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended NC State University under the GI Bill and studied Civil Engineering. He remained in the US Army Reserves and retired after 35 years as a Command Sergeant Major in the 108th Division. He is a member of VFW and the American Legion. He was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and had continued to have many friends from his graduating class of 1950. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Barbara Ramsey of the home; a daughter, Christine W. Harrell and husband, Ronnie of Raleigh; son, Michael David and wife Renee' of Newnan, GA; six grandchildren, Kevin Harrell of Charlotte, Katie and Cameron Harrell of Raleigh, Christopher, Andrew and Brenton Walker of Newnan, GA., and sister, Mary Ellen Shipman and husband, Howard of Asheville.
