William J. Akerman Jr., 88, of Metter, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at his home under hospice care.
Born in Bulloch County the son of William James and Sadie Atwood Akerman, he was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army, and was a member of American Legion Post 90.

Living most of his life in Bulloch County, he was a retired farmer who loved hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Christie Bray; a brother, John Akerman; three sisters, Mattie Herron, Edna Bacon and Ida Belle Hodges.
Survivors are two sons, William James Akerman III of Register and Frank Akerman of Metter; two daughters, Linda Nolan of Eldgin, Texas, and Sadie Rewis of Metter; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Pastor April Bragg officiating.
Burial will be in Lower Lotts Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Remembrances may be made to Living Care Hospice.
