Eva A. Ahern, 79, Overland Park, KS, passed away Monday, January 30. 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 3, 2006 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, 7023 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, KS. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, February 2 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Good Shepherd Hospice, 7611 State Line Road, Suite 206, KCMO 64114, or to Queen of the Holy Rosary School, 6915 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, KS 66204. Eva was born April 27, 1926 in Boonville, MO, to parents Leo and Nettie (Gantner) Schmidt. After moving to Kansas City, she began her career at Home Savings Association. There she met James Ahern whom she married on September 4, 1954 in Boonville, MO. Eva also was an Avon lady for over 10 years where she made friends with all of her customers. She was an active member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Eva particularly enjoyed finding early morning garage sales, where she acquired many good friends, as well as beautiful antiques and collectibles. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Lawrence Schmidt; and a sister: Elizabeth Esser-Rohr. She is survived by her husband of 51 years: Jim Ahern; two sons: Chip Ahern, and wife, Monica, of Overland Park, and Patrick Ahern, and wife, Lynn, of Shawnee, KS; by a daughter Mary Frost, and husband Michael of Long Valley, NJ; a sister: Grace Himmelberg and husband Marvin, of Nashville, TN; and by her eight beloved grandchildren.
