Funeral services for Mrs. Lettie L Robeson, 70, widow of the late John E Robeson, were conducted from the new Methodist church on Wednesday June 13 at 3:00 p.m. The Reve John Paul Stafford, Jr., pastor officiated and burial was in Restland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Forrest Fahler, Jay Mills, Fred Brown, Willard Castle, Walter Winter and Harold Sondgeroth.

Friends called at Bailey's funeral home until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday when the remains were taken to the church.

Lettie L Robeson nee Armitage, was born November 30, 1855, at Oakwood, Ontario, Canada and died at 11:20 p.m. CST, Sunday June 10, in Mendota Community Hospital where she had been a patient since June 5th. She died at the age of 70 years, six months and eleven days. She was the widow of the late Rev. John E Robeson who served thirty-five years as a Methodist minister in the Rock River Conference in northern Illinois.

Her parents were Amos and Isabell Armitage. She was the oldest of two daughters and is survived by her sister, Mrs. Flossie Harcus, Toronto, Canada and two sons, Reginald and Harold both of Mendota. She was preceded in death by a son Earl, who died in infancy and her husband, who died in October of 1944. Mrs. Robeson was a loyal pastor's wife, devoting her life to the aid of her husband in their many church activities. She took particular pride in her many years of work with the young people in the Epworth League and the Queen Esther Circles.

Long time residents of the Rockford area, the Reverend and Mrs. Robeson served Methodist pastorates at Alden and Big Foor, Cherry Valley, Palatine, Zion, Davis, Monroe Center, Genoa, Lena, Polo, Elizabeth, Mendota, Rochelle and Prophetstown.

Following the death of her husband in 1944, she returned to Mendota where she lived on a farm with her son Reggie. She was a member of the Mendota Methodist Church and a beloved resident of the community.
