His hobby was flying and had a Pilots license for single engine planes. He was also an illustrator and a very good trumpet player until he entered the ministry.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1952 during the Korean war. He served his tour of duty in Germany, Stuttgart and Bremerhaven. He received an honorable discharge in 1954. He married Connie Kelley Wakefield Lawson in 1969. He then became a Christian and also became a minister of the Gospel and had a Church in Los Angeles. He and his wife bought extensive properties in Los Angeles and in her hometown of Dallas Texas. In 1976 they relocated to Dallas Texas. They have a church in Texas "The Word of Life Church, faith of GOD" where he is now a bishop of the Church.
He passed away on January 23, 2006 in Dallas, Texas at the veterans hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, of 37 years; two stepdaughters; three brothers; one niece and one nephew; 14 stepgrandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Walton Sr.; his mother, Mary Salena Walton; two stepsons Dean Wakefield and Aaron Wakefield. Left to cherish his memory is his three brothers; Ronald, Donald and Talbert, and his wife, Connie.
