Second son of George Washington Sadler and Sarah Edwards. Both George and Thomas enlisted in the CSA 37th Alabama Infantry Co. G during the Civil War. Both contracted Small Pox. George died and was buried in an unmarked, unknown grave site in northern Mississippi. Thomas, however, recovered and was later wounded at the battle of New Hope Church near Marietta, GA (May, 1864) and transferred to a hospital in Alabama to recover, then discharged from the Alabama 37th Infantry.
