Burteel left high school before graduation but she returned to attend classes and graduate at Mountain Park with the class of 1956. Burteel and her sister, Azlee, sold tickets and operated the concession stand at the local movie theaters.
Burteel met Tom Dyer and they were married in Paris, France. They returned to Snyder to establish a home and resided there until his death in 1966. Burteel was a charter member of the Snyder Fairlawn Cemetery Association in April of 1982 and she retired in May of 1995, due to illness. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends and she was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Snyder.
Survivors include two sisters, Vondell Witt of Walters, OK and Mary Jo Bittner of Plainview, TX. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Forrest, J.B. and Glen, and five sisters, Fern Kirk, Erthel Hardin, Azlee Burns, Bernice Johnson, and Grace Wright.
Services will be at 1:30 pm Friday in the Becker Funeral Home Chapel, Snyder, with Rev. Bob Witt, Pastor, Classen Boulevard Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain Park Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder.
