Daphne was a slave of the Hanover Quaker foundryman Caleb Barker. She was listed as a 50 year old slave in the 1754 Massachusetts Slave Census. When Caleb Barker removed to Maine, he sold Daphne to Col. John Barker, allowing her to remain in Hanover with her husband Dick, a slave of Col. John Barker.

Her death record listed: "Daphne, an old negro-woman".
