Circus Performer. A member of the famous family of aerialists, "The Flying Wallendas." The son of Herman Wallenda, and the nephew of Karl Wallenda. He began training on the wire at the age of five. In 1944, he helped rescue several people during the Hartford Circus Fire on July 6, 1944, in Hartford, Connecticut, and, in 1962, he was one of the only people left standing when the Seven-Man Pyramid collapsed during a January 30, 1962, performance in Detroit, Michigan. He later married, returned to school, graduated, got a college degree, and became a history and geography teacher, all while training other performers to perform in the high-wire act. He died in March 1996, at the age of 68.
