Opal McPherson, 91, of Galatia, died 10:55 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2005, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with Dr. Harrison Peyton officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery in Broughton. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2005, at the funeral home.

She was born March 18, 1914, in Hamilton County to the late George Washington and Daisey (Blacklidge) Randolph. On Nov. 16, 1934, she married Joe McPherson in Norris City, and he preceded her in death in 1998.

She was a homemaker and a member of Galatia Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Joe (Carolyn) McPherson of Marion; a sister, Pauline Pitsch of Broughton; two grandchildren, Cindy (Rob) Bisching of Carterville and Connie (Eric) Umstead of Murray, Ky.; and four great-grandchildren, Aaron Craig, Bryce Bisching and Ian and Claire Umstead.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Cotter; and three brothers, Clarence, Owen and Hugh Randolph.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
