William L. "Bill" Bangtson

William "Bill" Bangtson Sr., age 64 of La Crescent, MN passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 29, 2014 at the Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Bill was born in Minneapolis on January 26, 1950 to Quentin and Joyce (Carlson) Bangtson. He served 4 years in the United States Coast Guard (PO2 - Petty Officer Second Class)in Alaska and then settled in La Crescent after his enlistment ended.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda; children Bill Jr. (Elizabeth), and Brian (Rhonda); grandkids Gabrielle, Brookelyn, Ava, and Bodin; siblings Bob (Cathy) Bangtson and Becky (John) Brzinski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Quentin and Joyce (Carlson) Bangtson and sister Barbara (Bangtson) McKie.

William was a passionate entrepreneur who built his own company through hard work, devotion, and tireless effort. He was a friend to all, and touched many lives throughout his years, leaving all with a story to share just as unique as the man himself. Bill enjoyed his free time in the company of friends and family riding motorcycles, enjoying a boat ride, or swinging a golf club.

Most of all Bill loved spending as much time as possible with his 'Gaby Girl', 'Snookie Brooks', 'Ava Bear', and 'Bodi Boy' held close in his arms as they grabbed and poked at Grandpa. Bill will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Bill's family would like to thank Fairview Hospital for their assistance in caring for Bill throughout this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent. Pastor Michael Woods will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Friends may call on the family Sunday evening at the church from 4 until 7 pm and again at the church on Monday from 10 am until the time of services. Military rites will be provided by the Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post 595 La Crescent.

The Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crescent chapel is in charge of arrangements.
