Allen J. Magnuson, 77, of Fruitland died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka. He was a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota and had resided in Fruitland for the past 8 years coming from Jacksonville where he had resided for 28 years. He had retired as the chief superintendent of building and grounds at Episcopal High School in Jacksonville. He had also previously worked for 22 years as a sheet metal worker with States Electric Manufacturing in North Minneapolis, MN. While residing in Jacksonville he was a charter member of the Replicar Car Club in Jacksonville and while in Mound, Minnesota, he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Jaycees. Mr. Magnuson was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Satsuma and as his hobbies he enjoyed machine work, wood working, and anything else working with his hands. He was also an avid deer hunter.


He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat Magnuson of Fruitland, 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Carolyn Magnuson of Waterloo, SC, and Rev. Rich and Mary Magnuson of Grassy Creek, NC, his mother, Loretta Magnuson of Deland, a step-grandson, Chad Clements of Jacksonville and 2 sisters-in-law, Jean Carstens and husband, Ed of New Smyrna Beach, and Jerry Lininger and husband, Neil of Fallon, NV.


Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 12, 2009 at Hope Lutheran Church in Satsuma with Rev. Jake Brey officiating. No public visitation is scheduled.
