Died 3:23 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 1988, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 64, a native of Pitkin and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired East Baton Rouge Parish schoolteacher and was a retired U.S. Air Force Reserves colonel, having served as a pilot during World War II. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 10 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Thomas C. French Jr. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by wife, Peggy Blackwell Weldon; two daughters, Mrs. Carla Gray, Lafayette, and Mrs. Nora Carles, Dalton, Ga.; two sons, Charles A. Weldon, Baton Rouge, and Wray G. Weldon, Dallas, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Willie Mae Jones, Baton Rouge; two brothers, Fisher and Robert Weldon, both of Baton Rouge; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simeon E. Weldon. He was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church, Pitkin Lodge No. 338, F&AM, Naomi Chapter No. 38 of Order of Eastern Star, Washington Chapter No.57, RAM, Lambert Council No. 22 of R&SM, Plains Commandry No. 11, and Nicholson Legion Post No. 38 of American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alexandria Masonic Children's Home.
