Miss Annabel Dorman Dead in Auto Wreck

The Jackson News of yesterday contained the following reference to the sad destiny of a young lady who has relatives in this county:

Miss Annabel Dorman, 20 years of age, died at a local hospital Wednesday morning as result of injuries sustained in an auto accident Sunday on the Brandon highway, seven miles from Jackson. Miss Dorman was an employe at Kenningtons.

Miss Dorman, Miss Mamie Allen and H. A. Boynton, of Louisiana, a traveling man, were riding in the car which was being driven by the former when, in attempting to pass another car on the highway by swerving over to one side of the road, struck loose gravel causing the auto to plunge from the road. The car turned completely over, hurling Miss Dorman from the auto, injuring her critically.

After being brought to a local hospital Miss Dorman was found to be suffering from a fracture of the skull and terribly crushed about the thigh. Her condition gradually became alarming and at midnight Tuesday, attending physicians abandoned hope for her recovery. Efforts were then made by the hospital attendants to make the injured girl's last moments as easy as possible.

Boknton suffered a fracture of two ribs and other lacerations about the body.

Funeral services for Miss Dorman will be held Thursday afternoon, Dr. W. A. Hewitt, pastor of the First Baptist church, assisted by Dr. H. M. King, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church, officiating. Interment will be at Cedarlawn cemetery.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Dorman, of Van Winkle, three sisters, Mrs. B. B. DuBose, Mrs. R. L. Comfort, and Miss Majer Dorman, three brothers, A. S. Dorman, E. D. Dorman, all of Jackson, and Neil Dorman of the United States navy. Theodore Dorman, a half brother, of Newton county, also survives. (Mona Hura; FIND A GRAVE ID 47044150)
