2 Children Die in Becker Car-Truck Crash
2 children were killed and a third injured in a collision at the intersection of a Sherburne County road and the partially completed route of Hwy 25 about 5 pm on August 26th.
Killed were Daniel 4 , Carmae 2, children of Mr and Mrs James Pittman rural Clear Lake. The third child Trudy, 3, Mrs Pittman 25 and Virgil Gilyard 36, Becker are hospitalized in St. Cloud.
According to the sheriff, Mrs Pittman was driving east on county rd 16 with her 3 children, Gilyard was driving a pickup truck north on the highway.
The vehicles met at the intersection as what is described by the sheriff as a "terriffic" impact.
Mrs Pittman and Trudy are in satisfactory condition at the hospital. Mr Gilyard is in good condition with 2 broken ribs and a cut over his left eye.
Funeral services will be held Saturday August 29, 10:30 am at the Monticello Episcopal church with Rev. Robert McKewin officiating. Burial will be at the Becker Cemetery. Friends may call at the Peterson Funeral home starting at noon on August 28th.
Pallbearers for Daniel will be Darold and Rex Brings, and Larry and Billy Ptiiman.
Pallbearers for Carmae will be Kevin Keeler, Daune Major, Alan and Larry Woolhouse.
