Son of Andreas Auber, he married Theresa MAIER, October 5, 1835, Wurttemberg, Germany. He and his family arrived in New York, September 19, 1849, aboard the ship Judah Laura.

John a shoemaker, and Theresa appear on the 1860 census, Wheeling, with children William 21, Charles (Karl) 25, Frank 13 (3 born Germany); John 9, Fred 7, Anna M 2 (3 born Virginia)

NOTE: family member advised that his death year is not 1860, as he made his will Nov 5 1861, Wheeling, in which he bequeathed all real and personal property to his wife "Threasea". He nominated Jacob Vogleman Executorand it was probated Feb 11, 1862.
