Former principal of Rochelle Elementary School for 15 years. One of the first female African-American teachers in Lakeland. She graduated from the University of Chicago and later her master's degree from Columbia University. She was previously an education professor at Arkansas A&M College before moving to Lakeland.

She was a member of Bethel AME Church where she served as trustee, organizer of the beautification board, Sunday school teacher and director of religious education. She belonged to the order of the Eastern Star and the American Woodmen. She was an honorary member of the Woman's Club.
