Florence I. Heimberg, age 93, of Pine Island, died on Friday, July 04, 2014 at Pine Haven Care Center.

She was born on October 16, 1920, in Mower County, Grand Meadow, to Floyd and Lela (nee Olson) Robb. She attended country school through the 8th grade. Florence worked as a residential housekeeper, and also worked at the Kahler Hotel for 30 years working as a supervisor in the linen room. On July 1, 1939 she married Fred Heimberg at Zwingli United Church of Christ in Berne. They lived in rural Byron, rural Pine Island and later moved to town. Florence was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Pine Island, participated in home extension group, the county line birthday club, and the craft group at the Pine Island Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed playing cards, word puzzles, and loved country music and the MN Twins. Florence also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Florence is survived by her children, Frederick (Rosemary) Heimberg of Pine Island, Rozena (Thomas) Rydstrom of Brighton, CO, Cathy (Marlin) Swee of Rochester, Joe (Gerri) Heimberg of Pine Island; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Duane Robb of Rochester.

Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Fred who died on March 4, 1988; granddaughter, Connie Dose; sisters, Gretchen Robb, Alice Larsen, Helen Nelson, Ruth Shane; and brothers, Albert and Floyd Jr. Robb.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Pine Island with Pastor Carolyn Westlake officiating. Burial will be in Berne Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Pine Island Area Homes Services, United Methodist Church, or to Season's Hospice.
