He died at his home in Brushton.

He was born on March 28, 1934 in North Bangor, son of Watson and Gladys Curtis Manning. He attended school in Brushton and served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He married Jean Hough in 1953. The marriage ended in divorce.

He married Nancy Rice in 1988.

He was a member of Brushton-Moira American Legion Post 939, Moira, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He worked for General Motors, Massena, retiring because of ill health. He had also worked for the Fisherman's Haven in Lake Okeechobee, Fla.

Surviving was his wife; his companion, Vicky Winters; four sons, Craig; James S.; James F.; and Martin and Sherry; two daughters; Darlene and Mark Durant; and Terrie LePage, and her companion, Mark Dietz; two brothers, Walter Ziser and Watson Manning Jr.; a sister, Mae Gannon; a sister-in-law, Velieta F. Manning; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Deborah M. Butler, and a brother, Alfred "Bud" Manning, died before him.
