A 45-year-old Funkstown man drowned at Dam No. 4 early Friday, according to State Police. The body of ALVIE HOWARD SNYDER was found at 10:45 pm. as members of the Williamsport Ambulance Club searched the water with two boats. Snyder's clothing was found on a boat wharf on the Maryland side of the river, indicating he had been swimming.

Mr. Snyder lived at 102 W. Green Street, Funkstown. Born in St. James, he was the son of the late John W. and Stella (Gearhart) Snyder, and was a former employe of Fairchild Stratos and was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are sisters, Mrs. Loretta Minnick, Funkstown; Mrs. Julia Mobley, Frederick; Mrs. Catherine Moats, Frederick; and Miss Betty L. Snyder, Baltimore; brothers, Lloyd, Tampa, Fl.; and Wilbur, Hagerstown.

Funeral services were held at the Minnich Funeral Home; burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
