Born Aug. 8, 1923, in St. Mary, Jamaica, West Indies, to Roderick and Lydia Brown, he married Hattie M. Knox on Aug. 12, 1967, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Scotty of Peoria and Wally of Bronx, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Hector of Jamaica and Gordon of Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
A Caterpillar Inc. employee for 14 years, he retired on Nov. 1, 1983. A member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria and its Deacon Board, he was a former trustee, assistant Sunday school superintendent and member of the Male Chorus.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
