Mrs. Gloria E. Barnes passed away quietly at Royal Oaks Nursing Home, Titusville, FL, on July 5, 2014. She was born in Coyle, Oklahoma on September 24, 1921 to Charles and Mary (Buffington) Baker.

Her father served in the army during World War I and II. Gloria's mother ran a greenhouse and tended a full acre of irises. She could name any tree, shrub or flower. Gloria was especially close to her Aunt Thelma and Uncle Tom Buffington. They loved to fish and play Yahtzee for countless hours. Tom served in World War II and drove a truck in the Army that followed General Patton into Berlin.

Gloria graduated from Capitol Hill High School in southwestern Oklahoma City. She married L.J. "Jack" Delancy from Yale, Oklahoma. Jack became a master mechanic for the National Cash Register Company which took Gloria to Michigan, California, New Mexico, and Texas where Jack trained others on National Cash Register's most advanced equipment. Gloria and Jack decided to return to Oklahoma and settle down to stay near family in 1955 and he went to work for Midwest Cash Register Company in Oklahoma City as their head of maintenance. Gloria played her Gibson guitar and sang on local radio. She enjoyed watching football and other sports especially bowling in which she was a member of a Bowling League for most of her life. Gloria loved to do all types of crafts and give as gifts. Gloria and Jack square danced on local TV. They were loyal parishioners and active in Immanuel Lutheran Church (Pastor Lester Hall). They went their separate ways in divorce in 1965 and Gloria went to work as a hairdresser, a profession she stayed with until her retirement. Two years later she married Archie Barnes with whom she maintained a close relationship until he passed away.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; younger brother, Neal; her daughters, Pamela Delancy and Darlene Martin; her son, Charles Delancy; and her second husband, Archie Barnes. She is survived by her sister, Patsy Lynn; her sister-in-law, Ruth Baker; and two sons, Michael Delancy and Steven Delancy. Gloria has fifteen grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

She will be laid to rest in Jones Oklahoma Cemetery next to Archie Barnes and along with several generations of Buffington's. If you wish to acknowledge her ninety plus years of life, the family requests that you do so with donations to Hospice of Saint Francis, 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville, FL 32780, who allowed her to die peacefully with dignity. Thank you Hospice of Saint Francis. Online condolences may be shared at www.HavenbrookFuneralHome.com.
