Lavaundia Bonnie Thone
03/19/28 03/29/02
Lavaundia Bonnie Thone went to be with her Lord on Friday after a brief illness. Throughout her life she opened her heart and her home to many foster children, family members and the community. She was an active member of the Town and Country Baptist Church, a member of the Eastern Star and a devoted volunteer. She spent thousands of hours collecting and delivering food to those in need for the Kern County Food Bank. With a group of friends, she created hundreds of warm quilts for the Bethany Center and the Bakersfield Rescue Mission.
Bonnie was born in Casa, Arkansas and was a long time resident of Bakersfield. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Ocie Alexander, her brother Udell Hoodie Alexander, and her sister Erma Hurtado.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband James Snookie Thone, her three daughters Lavaundia Clark, Janer Chappell and Marlia Maples of Bakersfield. Her ten grandchildren, Patrick Filoteo of Woodinville, WA; Jennifer Lavaundia Graybeal of San Jose, CA; Shannon Stacy, Danny Clark, Michelle Brewer, Angela Brewer, Melisa Maples, Carla Maples, Kristen Maples and Alison Maples all of Bakersfield, CA. Her four great grandchildren, Elizabeth Lavaundia, Rebecca, James and Sam. Her brothers, Odell and Mike, and her sisters Syble, Becky, Patsy and Kay. And finally her beloved dog, Princess.
Special thanks to Dr. Regis De Barros and his staff for the wonderful kindness and support they provided to Bonnie and her family.
Services will be held on Tuesday at Greenlawn Southwest and officiated by Dexter and Glendolene McMahon.
The pallbearers will be Timothy Maples, Tom Chappell, Patrick Filoteo, Scott Graybeal, Aaron Stacy and Danny Clark.
Bonnie was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
