Elias K. Ghuneim, age 86, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Flagler Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on Dec 3, 1927, in Nazareth to Salti and Kamleh Ghuneim. Elias grew up and was educated in Jerusalem and then moved to the United States in 1963.

For many years, he traveled the world working for Pan American World Airways. He met his wife to be, Margaret Doyle, who also worked for Pan American in Liberia, and they later married in Massachusetts.

Together, they raised their family while living in Long Island, N.Y., and later lived for many years in Martinique and other islands of the Caribbean and many other countries. Elias retired as a Pan American director in the late 1980s after 33 years of service. He was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather.

Elias is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Ghuneim of St Augustine; daughters, Leila Demetrovits (Stephen) of Fairfield, Conn., Pamela MacIntyre (Colin) of London, England; a son, Mark Ghuneim (Mari) of Manhattan, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Clare, Michael, Sian and Reegan; a sister, Marguerite Durou (Guy) of Taix, France.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Elias was also a member of the Bridge Club and played Tennis, active on his computer, was a radio DJ of Classical Music.
