Charley Alvan Jackson, 94, of Pensacola, Florida, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004.

He was born September 30, 1909 in Tishomingo County (Belmont), Mississippi to Jesse Columbus and Laura Hicks Jackson. Mr. Jackson retired from the Pensacola Naval Air Station, where he was head of the Land Survey Department. Then, he operated his own Land Surveying Company in Pensacola for more than twenty years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pensacola.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Cora Mock Jackson; his brothers, Floyd L. Jackson and Carmon E. Jackson and his sister Katherine Cornelius

He is survived by his son, Charles Jackson and his wife, Sally of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughter, Sue Gregg and her husband, Fred of Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida; brother, Tulon Lamar Jackson of Pensacola, Florida; sister, Christine Moore of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer J. Salopek, Charles Huntington Jackson, Christopher Scott Gregg, Holly G. Hebert and Charles Ashley Gregg; great grandchildren, Jackson Stuart Salopek and Samuel Huntington Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 1, 2004 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, with Dr. Henry Roberts officiating.

Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
