Obituary: Services for Jerome Nelson McLeod Sr., 85, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel in Manning with the Rev. Charlie Tyler officiating. Burial will be in Manning Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home, which is in charge, and other times at the residence of Robert S. McLeod. Memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home in Columbia.
Mr. McLeod, widower of Martha Rawlinson McLeod, died Thursday at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter. Born in Manning, he was a son of the late Jacob Lawson Sr. and Elizabeth Beard McLeod. He was a retired farmer and owner and operator of McLeod's Grocery in Alcolu. He was also a member of Manning United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his sons, Robert S. McLeod of Alcolu, Frank R. McLeod of Manning; daughters, Florence Drew of Darlington, Martha Branham of Lugoff; brother, E. B. "Gene" McLeod of Pinewood; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Jerome Nelson McLeod Jr.
