"Henry O. Darling, 72, of 8 Park Place, Cobleskill, died Saturday, March 14, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady. He was born Aug. 20, 1908, in Wellsboro, Pa., a son of Charles G. and Helen (VanDeBoe) Darling, he married Olga Cole on June 5, 1941. Mr. Darling was a charter member and past post commander of the VFW Post #5088, Cobleskill. He was past commander of the Schenectady-Schoharie Counties Council of the VFW, past commander of the 3rd District VFW. He was a member of the military order of Cooties, pup tent 15, Schenectady. He was a life-member of the VFW National Home, Eaton Rapids, Mich., and a member of the Fred L. Stilson Post 57, American Legion. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lodge 2695, Cobleskill. He served with the Cobleskill Fire Department. He also served with the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Darling was instrumental in the purchase and development of the present VFW post in Cobleskill. He was a retired oil-burner mechanic. He was a long-time resident of Cobleskill. He is survived by his wife; three brothers, Elmer Darling, Council Bluff, Iowa, Carlton Darling, Central Bridge, and Clayton Darling, Middlefield; three sisters, Mrs. Norine Leonard, Central Bridge, and Mrs. Anna Brezee, and Miss Ellamae Darling, both of Oneonta; several nieces and nephews ..."
