Mr. McPherson, of 3850 Eakins Ave., was killed when the car he was a passenger in crashed into a tree on Stow Ave. near Sixth St.
Four others in the car were admitted to area hospitals for injuries suffered in the accident.
The group was returning from a Christmas party at the Amco Chemical Co., 331 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls, where McPherson was a mechanic for the last four years.
He was past president of the Greater Akron Motorcycle Club.
He leaves his wife, Betty [Mikulski], four daughters, Linda Marie and Carla Denise, both at home, Miss Patsy McPherson and Miss Rhonda McPherson, both of stow; mother Mrs. Pearl McPherson, Dunlap, Tenn.; and eight stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Friends may call at the funeral home 7 to 9 tonight and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
