Melody Ann Noel Hopper, 67, formerly of Metamora, died at her home on Friday, July 4, 2014, in Southaven, Miss.

Melody was born on June 8, 1947, in Metamora to Milburn and Bernadine DuBois Noel.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell; children, Derek (Rebecca) of Olive Branch, Miss., Michelle (Andrew) Johnston of Colliersville, Tenn., and Sharon Free of Southaven, Miss.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ron (Marty) Noel and Leon (Debbie) Noel, both of Dallas, Texas, and Dale (Brenda) Noel of Dunlap; sisters, Carol (Dick) Schertz of Metamora and Bea (Danny) Elbert of East Peoria; and one brother-in-law, David Driscoll of Metamora.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Galeen Driscoll; and one grandson.

She had worked at Illinois Bell in Chicago and was co-owner of Midesha Enterprises in Southaven.

She was active in her church and will be remembered for her kind heart and smile.

A memorial service was held on July 8, 2014, at Longview Heights Baptist Church in Southaven, Miss.
