Before Philip enlisted in the Civil War with the 153rd PA Vol. Co. K, Philip resided in Lower Mt. Bethel, at age 20, and was an unmarried laborer. Philip was not the only family member in the Co. K. Two of his uncles also served with him.

In 1870, it appears Philip is back home and had a family: Philip J Albert 27, Louisa 24, Elmer 5, and Mary E. age 1.

In 1880, the family was living in Bangor: Philip J. Albert 37, Louisa Albert 33, Elmer 15, Sarah A. 8 and Alva A. Albert 6. It appears Mary E. died, and there are 2 more girls,

In 1900, the family is still in Bangor: Philip J Albert 57, Louisa Albert 53, George G Albert 18, Emma L Albert 14. Philip dies of liver sclerosis and heart disease in 1913.
