June 29, 1915 - Nov. 30, 2008

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Helen M. Colfer, 93, of Scottsdale, Ariz., passed away on Nov. 30, 2008.

Helen was born on June 29, 1915, in Sioux Falls, S.D., where she grew up. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in primary education from the University of Nebraska in 1937. Her first teaching assignment was in McCook, where she met and married Thomas Colfer in 1939. After 60 years of marriage, Tom predeceased Helen in 1999.

Helen was a wonderful wife, a devoted, loving mother and grandmother and a compassionate and true friend. She was a grace filled and courageous lady who loved the Lord, and who was greatly loved by all who knew her.

Helen moved to Arizona in 2005 to be closer to her family. Here she again met a lovely group of new and dear friends in her retirement community. Helen will be loved and remembered and cherished by her family and friends forever.

Helen is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Anne and Dale Krog of Scottsdale, Ariz., Barbara and Don Eazell of Palm Desert, Calif., and Jane and Mike Cunningham of Fresno, Calif. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
