Edgar Howard Harrell, 93, died Saturday, July 5th, at his San Antonio home with his family by his side.
Ed was born March 31, 1921, in Columbus, Miss. to Edgar and Iola Harrell.
In 1942, Ed was attending LSU when he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and served in over 36 missions in the Air offensive in the European campaign during WWII. Ed was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and EAMETO medal.
In 1945 he was honorably discharged that same year he married Clara O. Hans from Castroville.
In 1948 he graduated from St. Mary's Law School in San Antonio with a degree in law.
Ed worked in the plumbing supply business for over 38 years. In 1973 along with his son Don started Harrell Plumbing Co. which is still in operation by his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, son Ed Jr. & wife Linda, son Don, son Ron & wife Patricia, six grandkids and 3 great grandkids.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife Clara.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 9, at 6-8 pm at the Mission Park North Funeral Chapel in San Antonio. Graveside Service will be Thursday July 10, 2014 at 9:30 am at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PHCC of San Antonio, care of the plumbing apprenticeship school.
