James Otis Alford, Jr., 85, native of Fort Pierce, retired Intelligence Analyst and U.S. Air Force Veteran, died July 4, 2014.

Survivors include wife, Barbara; sons, Jim and Billy; daughter, Kathleen, and brother, Warren.

Visitation, Wednesday, July 9th from 9 AM until 10 AM at Yates Funeral Home, Fort Pierce Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM. Burial, with military honors, at White City Cemetery.

James Otis "Sonny", "Jim", "Al" Alford Jr., 85, of Port Saint Lucie, FL, died Friday, July 4, 2014 at Tradition Hospital.

Mr. Alford was born October 8, 1928 in Fort Pierce, FL, son of James Otis Alford and Emma Lou Maund Alford. He was a graduate of Fort Pierce High School, class of 1946. Mr. Alford served with the Occupational Forces in Japan, and was a Korean War Veteran and a Vietnam Veteran, all while serving in the United States Air Force. He retired as an Intelligence Analyst with the United States Dept. of Defense.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara Alford of Port Saint Lucie; 2 sons, Jim 0. Alford III (Marie) of Coral Springs, FL and Billy C. (Jean) Alford of Port Saint Lucie; daughter, Kathleen (Dan) Spotts of Hobe Sound, FL; 3 grandchildren, Jimmy, Sean and Christina; 1 great-grandson, James; brother, Warren Alford (Joanne) of Fort Pierce; 2 nephews, Bobby Johnson and Wayne Johnson; 3 nieces, Debbie McGowan, LoriAnne Johnson and Terri Corbin.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Harrison.

Visitation and viewing will be from 9:00 am until 10:00 am Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from Yates Funeral Home 1101 South U.S. 1, Fort Pierce. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at White City Cemetery.
