Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. Elsie Hatten Butler, 90, of 419 W. Fourth St., who died Tuesday afternoon at Methodist Hospital.
Interment will be in Sumrall Cemetery in Stone County.
Mrs. Butler was born Jan. 24, 1892, in Stone County. She was the eldest daughter of pioneer James D. (Red) and Thana Hatten Butler. She was educated at Mississippi Normal College and later attended LSU in Baton Rouge, La.
Mrs. Butler married Thomas Bentley Butler, merchant and cotton broker in McComb and Liberty. She worked for the Extension Service as home economist in the McComb and Brookhaven areas until 1933 when she became the Extension Service home economist for Forrest County; she retired from that position in 1966. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Tarver Hatten Butler; and a sister, Mrs. Earl Hinton of Gloster.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
