Glenn was the son of Roy Edward Swanson and Erma Laverne Johnson. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 13, 1947. He was the youngest of 3 children born to his parents. He had 2 sisters, Shirley & Janet.

He was united in marriage on July 7, 1973 at Grace Lutheran Church, in rural Ceresco, Nebraska to Sharon Kay Edstrom, daughter of Everett L. Edstrom and Betty J. Dahl.

Glenn & Sharon celebrated 41 years of marriage on the day of his passing.

Glenn & Sharon had 3 children: Brad, Wendi & Nicole.

Glenn served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Ozark and USS Wainwright serving from June 24, 1968 to April 7, 1972, serving 3 years, 9 months and 14 days.

Glenn was retired from Goodyear Tire Company - Lincoln, NE. During his retirement years he worked as a Drivers Education Instructor for SECC in Lincoln. He loved to read and play golf, he was a member of the Hilltop Country Club in Wahoo, American Legion Post 244, former member of Ceresco Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to make Rice Krispie bars with his granddaughters. He enjoyed watching "Husker Football" & "NASCAR" racing and always enjoyed homemade Runza's & Kolaches.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, children, Brad Swanson, Wendi Swanson Davis, Nicole Swanson Rech & spouse Craig Rech, grandchildren Ayla, Gracyn, Brooks and Trysten; Sisters & Brother-in-laws Janet & Chuck Matzke, Shirley & John Overton; Mother-in-law, Betty (Dahl) Edstrom; Sister-in-laws & Brother-in-laws Duane & Karen Edstrom, Robert & Deb Edstrom, Scott & Mary Ann Edstrom; Pam & Jason Huck, Donna & Andy Basler, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Proceded in death by parents and father-in-law, Everett Edstrom.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday 7/12/2014 at Ceresco Evangelical Covenant Church, Ceresco, NE.
