Ronald D. Abben, 74 of Independence died Jan 16 at West Village care Center in Independence.

He was born Aug 16, 1936 in Dumont, son of Edward and Iva E. Wickham Webben. He married Janice C. Hites on Aug 10, 1959 in Belton TX.

He graduated in 1954 from Bristow High School in Bristow and a graduate of Chicago Broadcasters School in Chicago. He later received an accounting certificate from Hawkeye Institute of Techology, Waterloo. He served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a broadcaster in various radio stations in Northeast Iowa and with Rath Packing Co and Iowa Ham prior to retirement.

Survived by his wife, four daughters, Donna Ross of Crescent City, CA, Debra (Kevin) Klotzbach, Rhonda Zieser and Christina(John) Moran all of Independence, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a sister Betty Wubbena of Waterloo and two brothers, Eldon (Grace) of Evansdale and Richard of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ivan and Beryl.

Burial in Mt Hope Cemetery.
