Altoona Tribune, 15 January 1935:
"Jacob G. Koch died at the home of C.O. Landis, Broad avenue extension and Kittaning Point road at 7:30 o'clock last evening of a heart attack. A nephew, Bert Hann of Williamsport is the only survivor. The body has been removed to the Lafferty funeral home."
Note: Jacob died at the home of his stepson-in-law. The nephew Bert Hann named in the above obit was the biological nephew of his second wife, Levina. Jacob was survived by his daughter Margaret, but was estranged from her; the descendants of Margaret claiming that Jacob died of typhoid as a young man. Either they truly did not know of his whereabouts for all those years, or they knew, but wanted no contact.
