Lera Hendon Bevis was the daughter of Nev Hendon 1883-1918 &
Rosa A. Clausel Hendon. She was born in Hardin County, TN ( Piney
Grove Community). She married Ed Bevis of the Nixon Community
of Hardin County, TN. Lera was the sister of eight siblings born to her Mother with whom she shares a grave marker. Lera became aphasic following a stroke about 1993 and was unable to communicate (verbally)
the last ten years of he lifetime. Lera had no children of her own but was a devoted Step Mom to the three children: Sue, Thomas, and Faye of her husband whose first wife (Jewell McFall Bevis)
met an untimely death (clothing caught fire doing laundry outside) when the children were very young. Lera did
factory work in and around Hardin County most of her life and worked during the WW11 years in the defense effort of our Country in Spring City, TN. Lera enjoyed sewing, quilt piecing, and fishing. She fished early on with her Aunt Lydia Gant in Indian Creek and in the TN River near the pipeline just North of Pickwick Dam. Of course, Ed Bevis, her husband,
was a farmer, sports fisherman and guide for visitors to Pickwick Lake and Dam from Nashville, Memphis, and beyond.
