Frederick L. DeVoe, age 54, suddenly December 22, 1998 at the Medical University of South Carolina. Resident of Hilton Head, S.C. Fred had an illustrious career in the newspaper industry having worked at newspapers in Philadelphia, Detroit, Dayton, Kansas City and Washington, D.C. Fred started his career with the Columbus Dispatch having attended Ohio State University. As a classified advertising manager he received numerous awards within the classified industry. Fred is survived by his wife, Joyce McMahon DeVoe; daughter, Jennifer L. DeVoe of Bowling Green, Ky.; son, Jeffery A. DeVoe of Keene, N.H.; sisters, Donna D. Kelly of Birmingham, Mich. and Dorothy D. Healy of New Canaan, Ct., nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Friends may call Monday 11-12 Noon at the EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad St. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Monday 1 p.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 S. High St. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
